PROCTORVILLE - When Michael Hill is down, he's up.

Hill kept his pitches down as he fired a one-hitter to lead the Fairland Dragons to an 11-0 whitewash of the Pt. Pleasant Big Blacks Wednesday.

"Michael kept his fastball down, and when he does that he's pretty tough," Fairland coach Roger Snyder said. "His fastball was working pretty good tonight. He was fairly sharp. He had his breaking ball going pretty good."

Hill struck out 12, walked one and gave up only a fifth inning single to Garrett Watterson.

The Dragons, 1-0, banged out nine hits with Hill going 2-for-3 with four runs batted in. Nick Zundel was 2-for-3 with two doubles and Todd Maynard had a triple.

"It usually takes three or four games to get into rhythm, but we hit the ball pretty good for the first time," Snyder said.

Fairland wasted no time by scoring three runs in the first inning.

Zundel was safe on an error, stole second, Todd Maynard was hit by a pitch, Hill was safe on a fielder's choice to load the bases, and Josh Moore had a two-run single. Cory McKnight grounded out as Hill scored.

The lead went to 6-0 in the second.

Nolan Love walked, stole second and came home when Zundel doubled. Maynard tripled for a run and Hill had an RBI single.

The Dragons put the game away with five runs in the third.

Adam Fuller singled, moved up on a sacrifice, and scored when Trenton Moore singled.

Zundel doubled in a run, Maynard walked and Hill had a two-run triple. Hill came home on an error.

The Dragons play Spring Valley Thursday.
