Big inning gives Redwomen big win

PEDRO - The Rock Hill Redwomen used a big third inning to beat the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers 10-3 Thursday.

Rock Hill went up 2-0 in the first inning.

Shelli Harper singled, stole second, and came on to score after two wild pitches. Bobbi Harper singled, went to third on a pair of wild pitches, and Katrina Settle hit a sacrifice fly.

The lead went to 3-0 in the second inning.

Brooke Long struck out but reach on a passed ball. Carla Bias singled and two wild pitches scored Long.

Ironton cut the deficit to 3-2 in the top of third inning.

Chelcie Rowland and Madison McDaniels walked and Nikki Harbolt had a two-run single.

But Rock Hill erupted for six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Kayla Kelley and Sarah Stamper and Brooke Long all singled for two runs. Carla Bias followed with a base hit, Shelli Harper walked and Melissa McFann was safe on an error as a run scored. Bobbi Harper hit into a fielder's choice as a run scored.

Ironton got a run in the sixth on four walks.

Rock Hill got the run back in its half of the inning when Bobbi Harper walked, stole second, and came around on a pair of wild pitches.

Bobbi Harper got the win as she struck out nine and walked four in four innings of work. Harper and Settle combined to limit Ironton to one hit.

Bias went 2-for-3 to lead the 8-hit attack.

Rock Hill, 3-1, hosts Chesapeake Friday.
