Bronson#039;s clutch hit gives Lady Fighting Tigers win
Kelsey Bronson helped get the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers into position to win, and when the time came, she finished the job.
Bronson went 3-for-4 including the game-winning base hit as Ironton edged the Rock Hill Redwomen 4-3 in eight innings Monday.
Ironton scored the winning run in the eighth inning when Jessica Weaver singled, Lindsey Mooney reached on an error and Bronson came through with the run scoring single.
"It was an exciting game from the start," Ironton coach Marissa Fields said. "All year long our slogan has been 'Never give up.' Tonight, the girls never gave up. They hung in there and pulled out the win."
Tracy Mays got the win as she went the distance allowing nine hits, striking out 10 and walking four.
Bobbi Harper took the loss in relief.
Ironton had 10 hits with Mays going 2-3 to go along with Bronson's effort. The Redwomen were led by Candice Chaffins who was 2-4 and Shelli Harper who went 2-5.
