WHEELERSBURG - It wasn't a win, but it was a step in the right direction.
Despite losing 8-1 Tuesday to the Wheelersburg Lady Pirates, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers showed signs of improvement.
"Wheelersburg was the runner-up in the state last year and I thought we played very well against them," Ironton coach Marissa Fields said.
"This was Edi Taylor's first start on the mound. Their two to five batters did not get a hit. Unfortunately, we did not take advantage and do well at the plate."
Kelsey Bronson, Edi Taylor and Nikki Harbolt all had base hits for Ironton.
