EASTERN - The hits were right on cue.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings had just six hits, but they were productive as they blanked the Beaver Eastern Lady Eagles 5-0 Wednesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

"They played us well. We only struck out one time, so they had to play defense," Lady Vikings coach Jeff "Odie" Estep.

"We got the hits when we had runners in scoring position. We had a lot of hard hit shots that they made the plays on."

Kristen Crabtree got the win as she went four innings allowing two hits and not walking a batter. Lori Harmon finished up as she struck out six over three innings and gave up two hits.

The game was scoreless through two innings until Symmes Valley scored twice in the third inning.

Natasha Pointer and Mindy Shope walked to start the inning and moved up on a wild pitch. Erin Martin grounded out to score a run and Emily Bowling singled home a run.

The lead went to 4-0 in the fifth inning.

With one out, Martin walked and scored on Bowling's triple. Harmon grounded out as Bowling scored.

An insurance run scored in the sixth when Rebecca Capper doubled, Jodi Black hit into a fielder's choice, and Crabtree singled.

Symmes Valley, 11-2 and 7-0 in the SOC, hosts Portsmouth Notre Dame Thursday in a league game.
