PEDRO - Playing under pressure doesn't bother the Rock Hill Redwomen.

Rock Hill scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning and edged the Fairland Lady Dragons 2-1 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

"Our defense was excellent," Rock Hill coach Mary Harper. "It was a good game. We made some clutch plays."

Rock Hill got a run in the first inning when Shelli Harper tripled on the first pitch and scored on a throwing error from the outfield.

Fairland tied the game in the top of the seventh inning.

Ashley Graham walked to lead off, Jennifer Legg put down a sacrifice bunt, and a throwing error allowed the runner to score.

But the Redwomen came back in the bottom of the inning.

Sarah Stamper led off the inning with a triple off the fence. Kayla Kelley then grounded the ball to second base and Stamper scored as Fairland was unable to make a throw.

Melissa McFann went 2-for-3 to lead Rock Hill. Mandy Clark was 2-3 for Fairland.

Rock Hill, 6-3 and 3-2 in the OVC, hosts Jackson in a doubleheader Saturday.
