PEDRO - That isn't the sound of a heartbeat. It's the constant pounding of the Rock Hill Redwomen bats.

Rock Hill pounded out nine hits to back the four-hit pitching of Mandy Estep as the Redwomen knocked off the South Point Lady Pointers 5-0 Wednesday in a key Ohio Valley Conference game.

"We had a really good defense and pounded the ball," Redwomen coach Mary Harper said.

The Redwomen got the only run they really needed in the fourth inning when Bobbi Harper doubled off the fence to start the inning and Sarah Stamper followed with a base hit.

Rock Hill pushed across four runs in the fifth inning to open up some breathing room.

Kayla Kelley reached on a fielder's choice, Shelli Harper singled and Melissa McFann was safe on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Bobbi Harper drilled a double down the line to score all three runners and Katrina Settle followed with a base hit to drive in the final run.

Rock Hill is 10-4 and 4-2 in the league. South Point falls to 5-1 in the conference.

On Monday, Rock Hill will visit Chesapeake in a league game while South Point faces Fairland.
