Symmes Valley contacts its offense to generate win over Flyers

AID - When the Symmes Valley Vikings make contact, they make contact.
The Vikings made contact for 12 hits as they beat the St. Joseph Flyers 11-1 Wednesday in five innings.
"Everyone is making contact, which is a positive," said Vikings coach John Patterson.
Kyle Meadows and Jesse Myers each went 3-for-3 to lead the Vikings. Justin Holland was 2-4.
Kurt Jordan was 2-2 and Josh Riedel 1-2 for the Flyers.
The Vikings took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Cory Burcham singled, stole second and scored on Holland's base hit. Meadows then doubled home a run.
St. Joseph got within 2-1 in the second inning when Jordan singled, stole second, went to third on a ground out by Joe O'Leary and came home on a hit by Riedel.
But the Vikings came back with four runs in the third inning to lead 6-1.
Burcham singled, stole second and came home when Holland singled. Meadows had a hit and Myers singled in two runs. Chase Higgins was safe on an error as Myers scored.
The lead went to 7-1 in the fourth inning on a solo home run by Derek Carpenter.
The Vikings put the game away with four runs in the fifth inning.
Myers singled, Higgins walked and Owens had a two-run double. Owens moved up on a passed ball and scored when Carpenter grounded out.
Burcham walked, stole second and third, and came home on a passed ball to create the mercy rule win.
Meadows got the win as he went four innings. Higgins finished up.
Symmes Valley, 3-2, hosts Green Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
