WESTWOOD, Ky.- The St. Joseph Flyers are going to have to learn to be a little less helpful.

The Flyers were guilty of 13 walks or hit batsmen as they lost to the Fairview Eagles 14-3 Monday.

"You can't give a team as good as Fairview that many walks and hit batsmen and not expect them to score," Flyers coach Greg Bryant said.

Fairview wasted little time by scoring five runs in the first inning and two in the second inning to lead 7-0.

The Flyers got a run in the third inning

when Kurt Jordan and Corey Lewis singled, Alex Swarts walked to load the bases and Ryan Waginger grounded out.

Fairview answered with a run in the bottom of the inning only to have the Flyers get two runs in the fourth inning. Ryan Schwab was safe on an error and then Jordan and Addis doubled.

But Fairview erupted for six more runs in the fourth inning to end the game.

St. Joseph, 2-12, plays at 5 p.m. Wednesday at South Gallia.
