NEW BOSTON - It's good to win. It's even better when you never lose.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings completed the Southern Ohio Conference schedule unbeaten as they blanked New Boston 12-0 Monday to put an exclamation point on their fourth straight league title.

"It's always good to keep winning, and you always like to go through the league unbeaten," Lady Vikings coach Jeff "Odie" Estep said.

Estep praised the work of seniors Lori Harmon, Jodi Black, Erin Martin and Kristen Crabtree.

"The seniors have lost only three conference game in four years. That's quite an accomplishment for them to be able to say something like that."

Crabtree pitched a one-hitter to get the win. She struck out 15 and did not walk a batter.

"Crabtree did an excellent job tonight. She kept the ball down and only faced 19 batters," Estep said.

The Lady Vikings got the only run they needed in the third inning with one out. Natasha Pointer was hit by a pitch, moved to second base on a wild pitch, took third base on an error and scored when Rebecca Capper grounded out.

Symmes Valley added a run in the fourth inning when Megan Coomes walked, took second on Black's sacrifice bunt and, after Crabtree walked, scored as Renee Campbell reached on an error.

The lead went to 6-0 in the fifth inning.

Emily Bowling and Capper reached on errors, Dana Campbell had an RBI single, and Coomes was safe on an error as a run scored. A wild pitch scored Campbell and Coomes scored when Black grounded out.

Symmes Valley put the game away with six runs in the sixth inning.
