AID - Pitching was the theme of the tournament.

Pitching dominated the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings four games played Friday and Saturday in the annual Thunder in the Valley softball round robin tournament.

Symmes Valley pitcher Lori Harmon pitched a three-hitter to beat Hillsdale 3-1 and a two-hitter to blank Eastern Brown 1-0.

The Lady Vikings (20-4) beat Hillsdale when Megan Coomes hit a three-run homer to center field in the third inning.

Coomes did it again in the second game as she belted a 3-1 pitch over the fence in center field for a home run that gave the Lady Vikings a 1-0 win over Eastern Brown.

Harmon struck out 10 and did not walk a batter in the win over Hillsdale. She fired a two-hitter to beat Eastern Brown. She struck out 13 and walked one.

On Saturday, Piketon blanked Symmes Valley 2-0 and Alexander squeezed by the Lady Vikings 1-0.

"We couldn't get anything going with our bats (Saturday). We got people on, we just couldn't get a clutch hit and we made mental mistakes on the base," Estep said.

On Monday, Symmes Valley plays at New Boston Monday in the Southern Ohio Conference finale.
