The schedule should have just Ironton & Tracy Mays vs. opponent.

Ironton senior pitcher Tracy Mays turned in the best one-week performances of her career last week as she helped the Lady Fighting Tigers to three wins.

"Tracy had an amazing week," Ironton coach Marissa Fields said. "She started with 16 strikeouts in one game, pitched a two-hitter and then a one-hitter. She is really on

top of her game right now."

On Tuesday, Mays struck out 16 as Ironton outscored Chesapeake 11-5. Mays also went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead a 19-hit assault.

Edi Taylor and Lindsey Mooney each went 3-4, Jessica Weaver 2-3 and Kelsey Bronson, Julie Bellville, Brandi Norris and Nikki Harbolt all went 2-4.

The Lady Tigers blanked South Point 2-0 on Senior Night Thursday as Mays celebrated with a two-hitter. She struck out 12 and did not walk a batter.

"It was great to get the win for our seniors," Fields said. "South Point had beaten us earlier in the season 6-0.

We are playing good ball. The defense is getting stronger as tonight was our first game with no errors."

Ironton scored the game's only runs in the second inning.

Julie Bellville singled to open the inning. Norris, Ironton's only other senior, reached on an

error as Bellville scored. Nikki Harbolt grounded into a fielder's choice to put Bellville at third base where she scored on Chelcie Rowland's sacrifice bunt.

Mays finished up the week on Friday with a one-hit shutout of Chesapeake. Mays fanned 13 and didn't walk a batter to get the win.

Mays was 2-3 while Taylor and Norris went 1-3 and Kelsey Bronson and Lindsey Mooney each went 1-4.

"Our goal all season long was to improve and get ready for the tournament. We have worked real hard and made some position adjustments these last several games," Fields said.

"The girls are playing great ball and it is definitely exciting. It feels great to win."

Ironton plays at 5 p.m. Monday at Rock Hill in the Div. III sectional tournament.
