Whether climbing, sliding, twirling, spinning or seeking some shade, students from Whitwell Elementary School tested out the new piece of playground equipment Wednesday afternoon during recess.

Below, third-grader Maggie Sloan maneuvers herself around in circles as she attempts to slide down a corkscrew base Wednesday. The equipment that Maggie and her classmates were playing on is just one section of new playground equipment at the school that was made possible by community support.
