A Lawrence County mother and her 3-year-old son were reported missing Monday, more than two months after relatives last saw the pair.
"We have absolutely nothing to go on except that they haven't seen her," said Lawrence County Sheriff Tim Sexton. "Hopefully, it turns out to be one of the unusual cases in which a person has just left on their own and we'll locate them safe and sound."
Vickie McCarty, 31,
and her son, Nathan, 3, were last seen April 1 at her residence at 170 Private Drive 3888 County Road 210, Waterloo. Family members said Vickie McCarty previously lived in Jackson County.
Vickie McCarty is described as 5 feet tall, 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Family members told authorities she was last known to work at the AmVets in Catlettsburg, Ky. The last known vehicle they could be traveling in is a white Mercury Tracer.
Sexton said the child reportedly has medical problems, including asthma, and the child's medication and breathing machine were left at home.
