COAL GROVE - It was another big night of racing at Rocky Top as a large field of cars came to race in front of a huge crowd of fans.

The modified division would have the best car count of the evening with a B-Main being run. The track produced plenty of two and three wide racing.

After three attempts to get the late model A-Main going,

officials switched to a single file start.

On the start, Josh McGuire and Kenny Christy went side-by-side for the lead into turn one. Christy, on the outside, would carry the momentum and get the lead coming out of turn two and down the backstretch. Into turn three on the first lap, Randy Boggs got under McGuire in a battle for second.

Boggs got by McGuire going into turn one on lap two and set his sights on the lead. For the next five laps, Boggs stayed two to three car lengths behind Christy. With Boggs and Christy battling for the lead, McGuire stayed consistently in third while a good battle ensued between Todd Smith and Kevin Wagner for fourth.

After nine laps, Christy started to pull away by over a half straightaway. With Christy still pulling away, the first caution since the start of the race flew on lap 13. This erased Christy's big lead as he and Boggs were now by nose-to-tail.

Into turns one and two on the restart, Boggs would be right on the tail of Christy. However, Christy started to pull away into turns three and four and led the remainder of the race to pick up his second win in a row at Rocky Top and third of the season.

Behind Christy was Boggs in second, McGuire third, Smith fourth and Wagner fifth.

McGuire won heat race one while Christy won heat race two.

At the start of the Modified A-Main, there was a six-car pileup going into turn one. On the second attempt to start, Todd Robinson took the early lead.

Meanwhile, the battle would continue in the back of the pack as the cars would go two and three wide. By lap five, Tim Moore worked his way past Harmon and moved into the second position as Robinson still led.

Both Sites and Robinson had to retire.

When the race restarted on lap 10, Moore continued to lead as the battle raged inside the top five. David Fitzpatrick continued to move up as he battled Harmon for second.

On lap 15, Fitzpatrick was able to clear Harmon and move into second as Payne and Perry battled for fourth. Coming to the checkered flag, Moore won by a good margin over Fitzpatrick to take his first win at Rocky Top.

Harmon would continue his top five streak as he finished third. Payne finished fourth while Perry finished fifth. Robinson won the dash race, Billy Dement won heat one while Eric Hatfield won heat two and Dave Kelley won the B-Main.

Jeremie Bretz would lead at the start of the Bomber A-Main as the field headed into turn one and held on to win his second race in a row at Rocky Top.

The season continues at Rocky Top Friday night.
