At Thursday evening's Rock Hill Board of Education special meeting, the board:

Transferred $281,925.33 from the general fund to the textbook and materials account.

Transferred $281,925.33 from the general fund to the repair and maintenance account.

Approved the fiscal year 2005-06 temporary appropriations of $26,232,961.24.

Transferred $250,000 from the general fund to the food service account.

Transferred $4,000 from the general fund to the middle school athletics account.

Transferred $35,000 from the general fund to the high school athletics account.

Treasurer Chris Robinson told the board this is higher than last year's transfer of approximately $20,000, but is not unexpected.

"Revenues for athletics has been flat for like, the last 10 years and things just keep getting more expensive."

Advanced $3,865.18 from the general fund to Title 2B (technology) account.

School officials said the process of getting approval for the district's budget by state and local officials took longer than usual and the funds transfer is necessary so the fund ends the year in the black.

Advanced $5,130.89 from the general fund to the Title 5 Innovative fund for libraries supplies account.

Approved a resolution to create and post one elementary school multiple handicapped teaching position.

Approved a resolution to create and post two elementary school multiple handicapped teacher aide positions.

Approved Marsha Kerns as the assistant cheerleading sponsor for the high school cheerleading team.

Conducted a public hearing to allow for public discussion of the proposal to rehire three retired school employees: Jim Harrison, Joyce Kingery and Geraldine Walters.
