The trip to the state tournament will be a short one as Ironton will be the site for this year's event that begin July 22.

Mike Lamb pitched a one-hitter as Fairland finished the tournament unbeaten. Lamb struck out eight, walked three and hit two batters.

Howie Lucas and Keith Wetzel pitched well in defeat as they combined to limit Fairland to six hits.

Fairland got what proved to be the winning run in the third inning.

A walk, a single by Matt Bloomfield and a sacrifice fly by Adam Berry pushed across the first run.

In the fourth, Fairland scored twice.

Lamb led off with a double, took third base on a passed ball and scored when Tyler Godby singled. Nick Zundel put down a sacrifice bunt and Bloomfield followed with an RBI single.

Bloomfield was 2-for-3 to lead Fairland. Jason Pennington was 1-1 for Ironton.
