SP Senior League All-Stars take winner#039;s bracket

SOUTH WEBSTER - Walk this way.

Using a combined 11 walks and hit batsmen plus 10 hits, South Point blasted Wheelersburg 17-0 in five innings to claim the winner's bracket title of the District 11 senior league tournament.

Three walks started South Point's first inning. A wild pitch and ground out made it 2-0.

South Point erupted for six runs in the second inning.

Tyler Smith singled, Chris Hughes had a bunt single and Blaine Williamson walked.

Chris Brown singled home two runs and Jacob Orlando was safe on an error for another run. Anthony Ross was hit by a pitch, Trenton Moore singled for a run batted in and Beau Weed drilled a two-run single.

The lead went to 12-0 in the third inning.

Lance Miller was hit by a pitch, Chris Hale singled and Brown doubled. Ross walked and Moore followed with a two-run single. Chase McWhorter and Smith walked to force in a run.

South Point put the game away with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Williamson and Brown singled and Orlando was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Moore singled in a run, McWhorter walked to drive in another run, Jacob Seagraves doubled in a pair of runs and Smith was safe on an error as the final run scored.

Moore, who went 3-4 at the plate, got the win with a one-hitter. He struck out 11 while walking just one and hitting a batter.

Brown was 2-4 with Weed, Seagraves, Smith, Hughes and Hall all getting a hit.

South Point plays at 6 p.m. Thursday against the winner of Monday's Ironton vs. Newville and then the winner of that game and Wheelersburg.
