ASHLAND, Ky. - Drivers from Kentucky to Ohio may have noticed tarps covering the Simeon Willis Bridge at 13th Street in Ashland as it gets a routine facelift.
"This is a normal maintenance cycle for upkeep of the bridge," Miranda Thacker, a spokesperson for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, said.
Work began May 10 on the bridge and is anticipated to be completed Nov. 15, 2006. The bridge's complement, the Ben Williamson Bridge on 12th Street, will get the same cleaning and painting but a date has not been set for that process to begin.
Minimal traffic delays are expected from the single lane closure on the bridge, Thacker said.
