Shooting suspect indicted in murder case

An Upper Township man arrested earlier this month in connection with a double shooting was among those indicted this week by a Lawrence County grand jury.

William Cooper, 48, of 2827 County Road 21, Ironton, was indicted on one count of murder and one count of second-degree felonious assault. Both indictments also carry a firearms charge.

Cooper was arrested July 2 and accused of shooting and killing Scott Marcum of Ironton and shooting and seriously injuring Orlan "J.R." Harper Jr., also of Ironton. Cooper remains in the Lawrence County Jail under a $1 million bond.

The grand jury also returned an indictment against a Greenup, Ky., man arrested in May on drug charges.

Aaron Black, 35, was indicted on one count of fourth-degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine, a charge that carries a vehicle forfeiture specification; third-degree felony tampering with evidence and first-degree misdemeanor resisting arrest.

Other indictments returned:

4James Jenkins, 30, of 1622 S. Fifth St., Ironton, two counts of third-degree felony complicity to trafficking in drugs.

4Steven Priddy, 44, Tipp City, two counts of third-degree felony trafficking in drugs, each with a monetary forfeiture specification, fourth-degree felony trafficking in LSD and fifth-degree felony possession of criminal tools.

4Teresa Priddy, 41, also of Tipp City, two counts of third-degree felony complicity to trafficking in drugs, one count of fourth-degree felony complicity to trafficking in LSD, fifth-degree felony aggravated possession of drugs and fourth-degree felony possession of criminal tools.

4James Lawrence Jr., 43, 495 County Road 1A, Ironton, one count of first-degree felony aggravated robbery.

4Kenneth Lucas, 50, one count of fourth-degree felony assault on a peace officer and one count of fifth-degree felony domestic violence.

4Maynard Wiggins, 21, of Huntington, W.Va., one count of fourth-degree felony receiving stolen property, one count of third-degree felony tampering with evidence and one count of fifth-degree felony having a weapon under a disability.

4Jalon Fox, 27, 158 Township Road 1020, South Point, one count of first-degree aggravated robbery with a firearm specification, one count of third-degree felony tampering with evidence and one count of third-degree felony having a weapon under a disability.

4William Trent Spaulding, 19, 11123 County Road 1, Chesapeake, one count of second-degree felony burglary and one count of fifth-degree felony theft.

4Erik Hargis, 25, Catlettsburg, Ky., one count of second-degree felonious assault with a firearm specification.

4Stephanie McMillian, 34, 10816 County Road 1, Chesapeake, one count of fourth-degree felony identity fraud.

4John C. Smith, 19, 923 County Road 36, Chesapeake, one count of fourth-degree felony grand theft.

4James R. McClellan III, 20, 1891 County Road 5, Kitts Hill, one count of third-degree felony attempt to commit burglary.

4Michael Johnson, 52, 122 Township Road 278 S, Chesapeake, one count of fourth-degree felony gross sexual imposition involving an adult.

4Marvin Scott, 28, 223 Township Road 1186, Apt. 26, South Point, one count of fifth-degree felony failure to register as a sex offender.

4Dianna White, 41, 14029 State Route 7, Proctorville, one count of fifth-degree felony vandalism and one count of second-degree misdemeanor resisting arrest.

4Lori Willis, 40, 217 County Road 105, Kitts Hill, five counts of fifth-degree felony forgery.

4Burt Aldridge, no age or address available, two counts of fourth-degree felony assault on a peace officer.

4Mark Willis, 164 Township Road 1021, South Point, one count of third-degree felony trafficking in crack cocaine and one count of third-degree felony possession of crack cocaine.

In addition, the grand jury returned two secret indictments.
