For example, a couple of weeks ago, the Ironton City Council had one candidate for election - now there are 10.

There could be lots of new blood on the council if voters so choose, though not all the names are new to city government, as former mayor and councilman Bob Cleary has thrown his name into the hat.

All councilmen whose terms are ending have filed for reelection, save for council chairman Jim Tordiff, who has previously announced he would not be running.
