BEREA (AP) - Veteran tight end Billy Miller signed a one-year contract Sunday with the Cleveland Browns, who also completed a trade of offensive linemen and added five players to their practice squad.

Miller, waived by the Houston Texans last Monday, provides needed depth with Steve Heiden the only healthy tight end on Cleveland's roster. Aaron Shea strained a chest muscle in the preseason finale at Chicago on Thursday. Brandon Rideau was signed to the practice squad Sunday along with tight end Paul Irons, linebacker Justin Kurpeikis, running back Sultan McCullough and defensive lineman J'Vonne Parker.

The Browns also completed the trade of offensive lineman Melvin Fowler to the Minnesota Vikings for offensive lineman Nat Dorsey.
