FRANKLIN FURNACE - Going from the inside to the outside was like going from the calm into the storm for the Green Bobcats.

After their inside game was shut down, the South Gallia Rebels turned to the outside as they ran past the Green Bobcats 20-7 Friday night.

"We just had breakdowns, especially early," said Green coach Kevin Sheridan.

"We did a good job clogging the middle. They started attacking the outside and we didn't do a good job. Once they get their backs on the outside they can move."

John Butler returned a punt 52 yards to the South Gallia 22-yard line that set up Green's touchdown, a 12-yard run by Dustin Williams. Mark Castro kicked the conversion and the Bobcats led 7-0.

South Gallia answered with a 34-yard run by Bernie Fulks to cut the deficit to 7-6.

With time running out in the second quarter, Seth Williamson hit Dustin McCombs with a 21-yard touchdown pass. Williamson ran for the conversion and the Rebels led 14-7.

"If we keep them out of the end zone before halftime and we come out and score, we're right in the ball game," Sheridan said. "We had too many little mistakes that hurt us. We can't keep doing that."

Green had a big gain to begin the third quarter called back on a penalty. The Rebels intercepted a Green pass on the next play to set up the third touchdown.

Derrick Beaver broke several tackles on a 23-yard pass play from Williamson that made it 20-7.

"The last touchdown was

just a case of bad tackling," Sheridan said. "We have to find a way to make things happen. We have to get our offense on track."

Green (1-1) got inside the 10-yard line in the fourth quarter but was unable to score.

Castro ran 23 times for 86 yards and Williams had 44 yards on 11 carries as Green got 145 yards rushing.

Fulks led South Gallia (2-0) with 100 yards on 12 carries.
