Rock Hill routs Oaks

OAK HILL - Coach Todd Knipp's worries were eased quickly.

Fearful of how his team would play against winless Oak Hill, the Rock Hill Redmen eliminated all doubts as they rolled to a 56-7 win Friday.

"Overall, we came out and executed. I was kind of worried about a letdown. We came out from the get-go and didn't letup. We have to eliminate the big mistakes and things that can cost us a ball game down the road," Knipp said.

The defense was up to the task by limiting the Oaks to just 13 yards rushing on 12 carries in the first half. Rock Hill outgained Oak Hill 255 to 23 in the half.

"We stuffed the run the first half. Overall, we're getting better against the pass and the run. We're still flying to the football and causing turnovers and making plays," Knipp said.

Three of the turnovers created by the defense were interceptions by Derek Robinson, K.C. Christian and Josh "Deuce" Moore.

Christian led the offense with 125 yards on just eight carries and he scored four touchdowns, one on his interception.

Christian ran 6 yards for the first touchdown just two minutes into the game. He added the conversion run and it was 8-0.

A 63-yard punt return by Moore set up a 17-yard scoring run by Christian and T.J. Blagg's conversion kick made it 15-0.

The Redmen drove 49 yards on their next possession with Christian taking it the final 13 yards for the touchdown and a 21-0 lead.

It was Blagg's turn to score as he ran 25 yards with 10:30 left in the half. His kick pushed the lead to 29-0.

Christian came up with an interception that he returned 45 yards for the touchdown and it was 36-0.

On Rock Hill's next possession, the Redmen drove to the 36 before a penalty moved the ball back to the 41 on third down. But Moore took a handoff and went the distance as Rock Hill extended its lead to 43-0.

Josh Guy had a 7-yard scoring run before the half to make it 50-0.

Oak Hill got on the scoreboard as freshman Chris Dupree ran 13 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Rock Hill completed the scoring with a defensive score when Josh Christian returned a fumble 10 yards with just 1:01 to play.
