MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - An arrest has been made in connection with the death of Kathleen Owens, the Ironton woman whose body was found over the weekend.

Ironton Police detective Capt. Jim Carey said information obtained in the case Wednesday evening led local authorities to obtain a warrant against Kimberly Dawn Delawder, 33, of 90 Pine St., Ironton.

Delawder was located in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and was arrested there by Myrtle Beach Police. She was taken to the Myrtle Beach Police Department Jail.

"She will be charged with aggravated vehicular homicide," Carey said.

Myrtle Beach Police Department Media Liaison Capt. David Knipes said Delawder was arrested at 10:20 p.m. at the Beach Walk Motel. She was taken into custody without incident.

A man with her in the motel room was not arrested.

Knipes said he did not know when Delawder might appear in court for an extradition hearing.

Carey said he was not certain if the two women knew each other and said he could not at this time release any other details in the case since the investigation continues.

"We still have a lot of stuff to do," Carey said.

The body of Owens was found Saturday morning on the floodwall near Buckeye Flea Market on First Street. Her funeral is today at Etna Cemetery.
