Lady Pointers top Chesapeake in OVC

CHESAPEAKE - The South Point Lady Pointers beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference volleyball match.
South Point won in three sets, 25-21, 25-10, 25-8.
South Point scoring: Kelley 3, Leighty 6, Kelley 1, Blake 6, Johnson 6, Queen 11, Kelley 7, Malone 17, Frasure 22.
Chesapeake scoring: Harris 2, Bennett 5, Kirk 4, Stephanie Rucker 7, Sowards 4, Sarah Rucker 8, Christina Clagg 9.
In the junior varsity match, South Point won 25-19 and 28-26.
South Point scoring: Kelley 21, Bailey 5, Huron 5, Hawthorne 2, Queen 3, Warnick 1, Christian 1, Ross 6, Leighty 5.
Chesapeake scoring: Harris 8, Lindsey 4, Tyree 5, Cravens 4, Belcher 8, Sizemore 3, Davidson 13.
Next match: Chesapeake at River Valley Thursday in an OVC match.
Lady Vikings notch 3 volleyball victories
WILLOW WOOD - The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings picked up three volleyball wins this week.
In a tri-match on Monday, Symmes Valley won its two matches.
The Lady Vikings topped Ironton 25-6, 17-25, 25-10. Ashley Wilson led the Lady Vikings with 27 points. Rebecca Capper and Megan Coomes scored 11 each.
In the second game, Symmes Valley beat Chesapeake 25-12, 25-12.
Capper had 15 points and five aces and Tiffany Bryant 13 points.
Ironton won over Chesapeake in two sets.
On Tuesday the Lady Vikings won at Latham Western in a Southern Ohio Conference match, 25-11, 25-19, 25-8.
Capper had 21 points including six aces while Emily Bowling scored 12 points.
In the junior varsity game, the Lady Vikings fell 24-26, 25-20, 11-15.
Leading scorers for the Vikings were Cassie Ingles with Cassie Engles 16 points and Whitney Smith had 13.
Symmes Valley is now 11-2 overall and 9-2 in the SOC.
Next: Thursday at Portsmouth Notre Dame in an SOC match.
