LUCASVILLE - Green coach Kevin Sheridan didn't need a stat sheet to tell him what he already knew.

"I haven't seen a stat sheet, but we didn't have too many yards. Valley had a nice defense. We had trouble moving the football," Sheridan said.

The Lucasville Valley Indians strong defense helped produce a 48-0 win over Green Friday night in the Southern Ohio Conference opener for both teams.

Green was limited to 174 total yards including 140 on the ground.

Lucasville Valley (4-1, 1-0) racked up 388 yards rushing and 74 passing for a 462 total.

The Indians jumped ahead 21-0 in the first quarter and never looked back.

Chuck Gregory threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Brock Williams for a 7-0 lead. Ryan Turner had a 2-yard scoring run before Craig Williams broke free on a 64-yard scamper just before the end of the quarter.

"(The third touchdown) was a back breaker," Sheridan said.

Lucasville Valley had two more scoring runs in the second quarter to lead 35-0 at the break.

Mark Castro ran 22 times for 82 yards to lead the Bobcats.

Green, 3-2 and 0-1 in the SOC, plays at Symmes Valley Friday in a league game.
