SOUTH POINT - When Linda Harlow decided to open a bookstore, she wanted something different.

&#8221It's not your ordinary bookstore,“ said Harlow, owner of the Joshua Tree Bookstore.

Actually, that is the store's motto - not your normal Christian bookstore.

Harlow said the bookstore is there for spiritual needs and she carries a wide assortment of items, some of which may be more difficult to find locally, such as items imported from Israel including Menorah's and Tallits (a prayer shawl).

Another interesting item she carries in the store are ABBA Spa Sets and Body Care, which are mineral-rich Dead Sea products.

Scented lotions, shower gels, bath salts, salt glow and spa sets are available as well as scented candles.

The scents and fragrances include frankincense, myrrh, spikenard and pomegranate.

&#8221I have a lot of unique things,“ Harlow said. &#8221I love Israel and I wanted to bring it all together.“

Harlow has lived in South Point for five years and said she has wanted to do something such as opening the store for quite awhile. Harlow teaches classes on hearing God and dream interpretation and she hopes to eventually begin to do outreaches from her store.

&#8221It's been in my heart to do something like this for years,“ she said. &#8221I wanted a home base to hold classes from. That's my goal to reach out to the youth.“

Looking for a place to relax? Customers can enjoy the coffee corner located in the store where they can bring a lunch, read a book or just relax with a cup of coffee or other beverage and a snack.

The bookstore also carries an assortment of books, teaching materials, contemporary worship and music CDs.

Some available authors include John Paul Jackson, Beth Moore, Charles Stanley and Joyce Myers. The store also has a variety of Veggie Tales for children.

The Joshua Tree is located in The Village Shopping Center, 401 Solida Road, Suite 7, in South Point across from the Speedway. The store opened for business on Oct. 1.
