SOUTH POINT - Now, this is what you call balance.

The offense was balanced and the defense was equal to the challenge as the South Point Pointers blanked the River Valley Raiders 30-0 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The offense racked up 336 total yards including 285 on the ground and 51 through the air. The defense played well as the Pointers recorded their first shutout of the season.

&#8221Our backs ran hard and our offensive line did a nice job,“ Pointers coach Dan McDavid said. &#8221A lot of our outside runs be were keyed by (Heath) Bridges and (Beau) Weed.“

Smith was also 5 of 11 passing for 51 yards. Bridges caught two passes for 28 yards and Jeremiah Taylor had two catches for 20 yards.

But the key to

to the win was the defense which shut down the Raiders offense.

&#8221Cory Garred, Justin Thacker and Jacob Orlando did a real nice job,“ McDavid said.

River Valley (1-7, 0-3) finished with 222 total yards. The Raiders had 126 yards rushing and quarterback Bryan Morrow was 7 of 12 for 96 yards and an interception.
