Election night filled with unique sights, sounds

Election night inside the packed Lawrence County Courthouse was electric.
The scene was a maze of sights and sounds, from a large contingent of Judge Clark Collins supporters who loudly cheered as each precinct's results were announced to people waiting outside on the steps.
Tyler Kratzenberg and his sister, Andi, were hard at work running results upstairs to their father, a Collins supporter.
“I'm just running back and forth to wait and see who wins,” Tyler said. “Kinda nervous, but you are kind of sure.”
Up the stairs, 10-year-old Kara Burcham amazingly slept soundly despite all the noise. Kara and her mother were there for only one reason - supporting husband and dad Robert Burcham who was running for Windsor Township Trustee.
“She fell asleep at about 9:30, as soon as we sat down,” Brenda said.
Burcham said that Kara got off the school bus at the voting polls yesterday because she wanted to support her dad. All the election excitement wore Kara out as she slept through
the yells, cheers and sometimes mournful sounds of election watchers below.
“We're going to take her home and put her in bed now,” Burcham said.
At the entrance of the courthouse a table, sponsored by the Lawrence County Humane Society, was set up with goodies.
“We are here to let the county know we are in existence,” society member Sue White said. “I think they like seeing us here.”
