Grand jury indicts woman for homicide

An Ironton woman accused of running over another woman with a car was indicted this week by a Lawrence County grand jury.

Kimberly Delawder, 33, of 90 Pine St., was indicted on one count of aggravated vehicular homicide and one count of

involuntary manslaughter. The jury has the option of convicting Delawder of either charge.

Delawder was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before Lawrence County Common Pleas Judge Richard Walton, who set bond at $200,000 cash or $400,000 property.

Delawder is accused of

running over Kathleen Owens, 35, who investigators believe was sitting on the river side of the floodwall along First Street in the early morning hours of

Sept. 17 when she was apparently struck by a vehicle.

Investigators arrested Delawder in Myrtle Beach, S.C., four days later.

Delawder was one of 23 people indicted by the grand jury. Of those,11 were secret indictments. Five of the secret indictments were for criminal non-support, the rest were drug related.

Others indicted were:

4Joseph Huff, 46, 1375 County Road 124, Chesapeake, one count each of felony forgery and misdemeanor theft.

4Laura Maynard, 29, 1529 County Road 18, South Point, one count of

felony forgery.

4Michael D. Gilkerson II, 30, address unavailable, one count of rape. The victim was a 5-year-old girl.

4Michael Reaper, 31, 235 Memorial St. Coal Grove, one count each of felony sexual battery and felony unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. The victim was a 13-year-old girl.

4Pamela D. Bartrum, 39, 210 Michaels St., South Point, one count of felony extortion.

4Nancy L. Freeman, 33, 889 Township Road 88, Proctorville, one count of

felony receiving stolen property.

4Crystal Fields, 26, 11350 County Road 1, Chesapeake, four counts of felony theft by deception and one count of

felony forgery.

4Jeffrey N. Wallace, 45, 409 Buckhorn St., Ironton, and Jackie Miller, 716 Neal Ave., Ironton. They are each charged with one count of

felony burglary, felony safecracking and felony receiving stolen property. They are accused of teaming up to burglarize an Ironton residence.

4Robert Kalmbach, 38, Pike St., Coal Grove, one count of domestic violence.

4Leona F. Neal, 49, 128 Township Road, South Point, one count each of felony burglary and felony disrupting a public service.

4 LeShawn Nickelson, 33, 403 Fourth St. East, South Point, failure to appear. Nickelson pleaded guilty Oct. 26 in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court to two drug charges and was supposed to return to court two weeks later for a sentencing hearing. He failed to do so.

The grand jury returned three no bills, or no indictments in three cases.The grand jury met Monday and Tuesday.
