BEAVER - Starting flat kept the Green Lady Bobcats from rising.
After a poor start, Green rallied to tie the game but lost 36-32 in overtime to the Eastern Lady Eagles in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Eastern was up 6-5 after the first quarter and it was 14-8 at the half.
“We started pretty flat. We didn't come to play,” Green coach Dale Royse said.
Elista Hall scored all 10 of her points in the second half as Green came back to tie the game at 31-31 to force the overtime.
“We played much better the second half. We just put ourselves in the hole with just eight points. But we battled defensively. We only gave up 14 points in the first half, and we battle back and even got the lead in the fourth quarter,” Royse said.
But in overtime the Lady Eagles outscored Green 5-1 to even its record in the SOC to 1-1.
Green, 1-2 and 1-1 in the SOC, also got 8 points from Kortney Pfleger. Jessica Dyer had 12 rebounds while Traci Elrod had six steals and four assists.
On Thursday, Green hosts East in another key league game.
