Ohio, Green end URI win streak

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) — Mychal Green scored a game-high 23 points and hit several key shots as undefeated Ohio snapped Rhode Island’s four-game winning streak with a 71-63 win on Saturday night.

Rhode Island (5-2) pulled within 58-52 with 4:05 to play on Dawan Robinson’s two free throws, but Green answered with a 3-pointer to make it 61-52.

Jeremy Fears followed with a steal and a layup to make it 63-52 with 3:11 to play. Fears, who finished with 16 points, had six of Ohio’s 12 steals as the Bobcats scored 21 points off Rhode Island’s turnovers.

Leon Williams had 18 points and 13 rebounds for Ohio (4-0) despite battling foul trouble in the second half.

Williams scored a basket with 1:59 to play to put Ohio ahead 65-54.

Jamaal Wise led Rhode Island with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Parfait Bitee scored 11 points while Robinson and Jimmy Baron each chipped in with 10 for the Rams.

A 3-pointer by Baron gave Rhode Island a 17-9 lead with 8:40 left in the first half but Ohio responded with a 15-2 run and led 33-24 at halftime.
