Bearcats slip by LSU, 75-72

LAS VEGAS (AP) — James White hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 1:51 left to lead Cincinnati to a 75-72 win over LSU Friday night in the final round of the Las Vegas Holiday Classic.

White, who finished with 19 points, also hit two free throws with 17 seconds left. He scored 11 of the Bearcats’ final 14 points.

Cincinnati’s Eric Hicks also added 21 points.

LSU’s Garrett Temple missed a potential tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Bearcats (9-2) won despite being out-rebounded 38-25 and outscored in the paint, 40-20. The Tigers turned the ball over 23 times to the Bearcats’ 14.

Devan Downey added 11 points and eight assists for Cincinnati.

Hicks also had seven rebounds.

Cincinnati and Northern Iowa share the Holiday Classic title with both teams going 4-0 in the round-robin format.

Glen Davis led LSU (7-3) with 21 points, going 9-of-15 from the field, while Darrel Mitchell had 17 points. Tyrus Thomas had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Tigers.
