COAL GROVE — Ms. Inside and Ms. Outside.
The Coal Grove Lady Hornets Chelsea Markins and Samantha Hall have been a strong inside-outside scoring tandem all season, and they were at it again Thursday in an 80-49 win over the South Gallia Lady Rebels.
Markins and Hall combined for 50 points as the Lady Hornets improved to 5-1 on the season.
Hall scored 26 points and Markins had 24 points including three goals from behind the arc.
“When they’re on, they’re a pretty good tandem. They can hurt you from the outside and the inside,” Coal Grove coach Nick Miller said.
Hall scored 10 points and Jordyn Cox had seven of her eight points in the first quarter as Coal Grove raced to a 27-8 lead.
“The girls shared the ball. We had five different players score in the first quarter. They’re looking for the best shot,” Miller said. “It’s nice to see Jordyn starting to get back into her rhythm.”
Markins matched Hall with 10 points in the second quarter as the Lady Hornets stretched their lead to 51-22.
“We wanted to get off to a good start and that’s pretty much what happened,” Miller said.
Hall had 10 more points and Markins eight in the third quarter as the Lady Hornets built a 76-32 lead.
Jennifer Sheridan had 12 points and Lacey Lester 10 to pace South Gallia (3-4).
