SCIOTOVILLE — It was the worst of halves, it was the best of halves.

In a tale of two halves, the Green Bobcats rallied from a two-point deficit at the half to beat the East Tartans 59-41 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“It was a story of two halves. The first half there wasn’t a lot going on,” Green coach Kevin Lewis said.

“We couldn’t make our shots the first half and we couldn’t get in the flow. I give East credit. The game was slow-paced and our kids were playing tentative. The second half we got more of an up-tempo, made some shots and got the game flowing.”

Green shot 20 of 53 from the field for the game but only 6 of 24 in the first half.

Getting the Green offense going was senior guard Derek Lewis who scored 25 points including seven 3-pointers.

Brian Ramey scored 16 points and had seven rebounds and Nathan Patten chipped in nine points as Green improved to 3-2 and 2-0 in the SOC.

East took a 12-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Derek Lewis and Patten combined for 11 points in the second quarter as Green came back to get within 23-21 at the break.

Ramey had six points in the third quarter and the defense held East to four points as the Bobcats rallied to take a 39-27 lead.

“We played much better in the second half. Ian Kelley went the last 30 seconds of the third quarter and converter three-point play. To get that three-point play was real big,” coach Lewis said.

“John Bowen did a nice job on the boards and staying

active. Nathan and Derek were steady and Brian did well and sophomore Chris Williard did a nice job while he was in there.”

Lewis scored 13 more points in the fourth quarter to offset eight points by Shope for the Tartans.

“To go down to East in tough enviroment and to win after not playing well in the first half was a big win,” coach Lewis said.
