FRANKLIN FURNACE — As Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis once said, “Just win, baby.”

Even though it wasn’t their best performance of the season, the Green Bobcats still accomplished their goal Friday with a 50-28 Southern Ohio Conference win over the Portsmouth East Tartans.

Green (9-5, 7-2 SOC) led just 8-4 after the first quarter and held East to one point in the second quarter to take a 14-5 halftime lead.

“It wasn’t pretty, but it’s a win and we’ll take it,” Green coach Kevin Lewis said. “For whatever reason, we just didn’t play well. We did play pretty good defense, but we lacked intensity and emotion.”

Brian Ramey scored 15 points and had 12 rebounds to lead Green. Ian Kelley had 10 points and seven rebounds and Joey Dyer grabbed nine rebounds.

Kelley and John Bowen scored four points each in the second quarter and the defense held East to one point as the lead went to 14-5 at the half.

Nathan Patten scored all seven of his points in the third quarter to put the Bobcats in front 35-13.

Chris Willard came off the bench to score five points including a 3-pointer for Green in the fourth quarter.
