NEW BOSTON — Somebody had to slow down.

The Green Lady Bobcats entered Thursday’s Southern Ohio Conference game with six wins in their last eight games. The New Boston Lady Tigers had won six of their last seven.

Both teams showed why they were on a roll, but it was New Boston that kept rolling with a 57-49 win over the Lady Bobcats.

“We’re playing well and we scored 49 points which is our second highest production all season. But we gave up 57 which is more than we’ve given up,” Green coach Dale Royse said.

“New Boston is pretty quick and pretty athletic. They’re a good ball club. But I was pleased with our effort. We never quit. They’re a great group of kids.”

Elista Hall scored 16 points to lead Green (7-5, 6-4 SOC). Kortney Pfleger and Traci Elrod each had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Kayla Wiley had 17 points and Jessica Waugh 14 points to lead New Boston (7-6).

New Boston took a 13-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Green closed the gap to 28-24 at the half.

The Lady Tigers were up 42-28 after three quarters, but Hall scored 10 points in the fourth quarter as Green got within five points.

New Boston was able to hold on for the win.
