BEAVER — Now, that’s the way to start a season.
The Green Bobcats spanked out 16 hits to back the combined one-hit pitching of Odie Kelly and Dustin Williams Wednesday in a season-opening 19-0 rout of the Eastern Eagles in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Williams was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a home run and two runs batted in while Brian Ramey was 4-5 with a double, a home run and six RBI to lead the onslaught.
“We were able to put the ball in play early and get a lead,” Green coach Dave Shoupe said. “Odie Kelly and Dustin Williams were able to throw strikes and set a good tempo.
“We’ve been practicing with a lot of intensity and we are happy to get the season starter with a win.”
Green, 1-0 overall and in the SOC, hosts Symmes Valley Friday in a key league game.
