Duo give SP girls 9-0 win

Whitney Wood and Alison Queen are becoming quite a team.

The duo combined for yet another win as they gave up just one hit between them in a 9-0 win Thursday over the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers.

Woody struck out three, did not walk anyone and gave up the only hit.

Nikki Harbolt singled to right field in the fifth inning to break up Woody’s perfect game bid.

Queen pitched two innings and allowed two walks while striking out three.

Emily Mannon went 4-for-4 to lead a 13-hit attack.

Ericka Leighty was 2-3 with two stole bases. Summer Malone and Ashley Porter also went 2-3 while Jessica Craft was 2-4.

South Point is now 7-2 while Ironton slips to 3-5.
