FRANKLIN FURNACE — “Z” used the “K” to get a “W.”

Nick Zundel struck out 10 batters and did not issue a walk as he pitched the Fairland Dragons to a 12-0 win over the Green Bobcats Thursday.

“Nick pitched well. He had his curve working, he had some pop on his fastball and real good control. He was impressive,” Fairland coach Roger Snyder said.

Fairland got the first run when Ethan Long singled, took third on a hit by Zundell and came home after walks to Adam Fuller and Robbie Easerling.

The Dragons pushed the lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning.

Spencer Baise reached on an error, Tyler Thackston singled, Chris Ward grounded out as the runners advance and Adam Berry grounded out to score a run.

Zundel doubled for a run and scored when Cole Hatfield grounded out.

Fairland blew the game open with eight runs in the sixth inning.

Thackston walked, Corey Blankenship singled, Berry singled to load the bases and Zundel got a run-scoring hit.

Hatfield’s base hit scored a run and then Fuller unloaded a grand slam home run.

Easterling and Baise singled to keep the rally going. Thackston and Blankenship walked to force in a run and Berry hit into a fielder’s choice as the final run scored.

Fairland, 6-2, entertains South Gallia Monday. Green, 4-2, hosts Eastern in a Southern Ohio Conference game Friday.
