PEDRO — Maybe Kersten Harris wasn’t sharp, but he sure stuck it to the Fairland Dragons.

Harris scattered seven hits as he pitched the Chesapeake Panthers to a 4-3 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Fairland Dragons Friday.

“Harris wasn’t as sharp as usual, but he still pitched a good ball game,” Panthers coach Joe Waugh said.

“We didn’t hit the ball well, but (Fairland pitcher Robbie) Easterling kept us off-balance. He pitched a good game, too.”

Chesapeake went in front 1-0 in the first inning.

P.J. Rase singled, moved up on a ground out and scored on a hit by Cody Methax.

The lead went to 2-0 in the third inning when Rase was safe on a fielder’s choice and scored on a triple by Cory Methax.

Fairland cut the lead in half with a run in the fourth inning.

Zach Jordan singled to start the inning, moved up on a wild pitch and came home when Adam Berry singled.

Chesapeake got what proved to be the winning runs in the fifth inning.

Blair tripled and Rase singled for the first run. Bryon Huff then singled, Rase stole third base and came home when Cory Methax hit into force out.

Fairland got two runs in the seventh inning.

With one out, Adam Fuller doubled and Easterling was safe on an error to put runners on the corners. Spencer Baise walked to load the bases.

After a fly out, Ethan Long singled to drive in two runs but Harris got a ground out to end the game.

Josh Blair was 2-2 and Rase 2-3 to lead the Panthers offense. Fuller was 2-4 for Fairland.

On Monday, Chesapeake, 8-5 overall and 6-1 in the OVC, visits Coal Grove while Fairland, 7-4 and 2-4, hosts South Point.
