AID — Alex Davis had just one hit, but it proved to be the biggest.

Notre Dame got the winning run when Davis singled with two outs and runners at first and third.

“It was one of those good pitcher’s duels,” Vikings coach John Patterson said.

Each team scored a run in the fourth and sixth innings.

The Vikings had a chance to score in the eighth inning. With a runner on third base and one out, a squeeze bunt was popped up and Titans pitcher Spencer Cutlip made a diving catch, then threw to third for the double play.

Another diving catch ended the seventh inning with a Viking runner on second.

Matt Owens pitched a complete game for the Vikings as he suffered the tough-luck loss.

The Vikings outhit the Titans 9-6. Seth Saunders and Cody Bland each went 3-4.

Symmes Valley slipped to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the SOC. Notre Dame is 4-3 and 3-0.
