PEDRO — A funny thing happened to the Rock Hill Redmen over the last couple of minutes of their game Saturday night against the Minford Falcons.

They forgot to score.

The Redmen were leading 51-49 but did not score over the final 2:36 of the game and lost 57-51 to the Falcons.

Rock Hill coach Marty Mills said the defeat was due to turnovers and poor rebounding, especially over the final two minutes. The Redmen had five turnovers down the stretch.

“We didn’t take care of the ball and we didn’t block out,” Mills said. “We had some guys play well and we played hard, we just had too many turnovers.”

The Redmen had 22 turnovers during the game to just 11 for Minford.

Mike Ison scored 14 points including four 3-pointers to lead the Redmen. He also had three assists.

Mark DePriest added 10 points and four assists while Nathan Davenport pulled down five rebounds.

Minford (5-7) took a 12-9 lead at the end of the first quarter before Rock Hill came back to tie the game 24-24 at the half.

The Redmen were up 39-38 after three quarters and then 51-49 before going scoreless the rest of the game.

Kyle McGraw scored 16 points, Sean Childers 11 and Michael Miller 10 to lead the Falcons.
