Children raise money for St. Jude

Five-year-old Aaron Bundy raced around Central Christian Church daycare on his bicycle with dreams in his head and a certain fire in his wheels Friday afternoon.
“I’m going to be mega-Godzilla,” he said.
Charlotte Pauley, director of the daycare center, couldn’t help but laugh. She hadn’t planned on Godzilla stopping by, just a little fundraising for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
“We do this every year,” she explained. “I’d like to raise about $500. We have about $360 now.”
Every year the children at the daycare take part in a bike-a-thon for the children’s hospital. From 3 years of age up to 10, all the children took turns Thursday and Friday riding their bikes or tricycles for donations.
For the smallest ones, the fundraising aspect of the event was a bit overshadowed by the “fun” raising aspect.
Did five-year-old Lauren Bush know why she was wheeling around on her bike?
Well, sort of.
“It’s bike day,” she cheered.
Pauley said those in the community who want to donate to the bike-a-thon may do so by calling Central Christian Church daycare at (740) 533-3939.
