Traci Fisher stands among the bright racks of colorful clothing and smiles: This is what she has dreamed of, now her dream has come true.

On Saturday, Fisher opened the doors of her new boutique, Mood, at the Ironton City Center. The clothing store features colorful tee-shirts and ponchos, men’s shirts and belts, handmade handbags and skirts.

“I just like business. I like clothing, fashion, and there was this opportunity.”

Ladonna Friend and her mother-in-law, Mildred Friend, came to browse Wednesday afternoon.

“This is nice,” Mildred said. “ She’s got some pretty clothes. We thought we would come in and look around.”

Fisher said her short- term plan is to build inventory. Then, she wants to add giftware and a seating area in the future — she wants guests to stay a while, talk, and, of course, leave with a purchase tucked under one arm.

“With the seating, people can come in and fellowship, not just buy something and leave,” she explained. “I’m a positive person. I’m happy. I enjoy the heck out of my life and I like talking to people.”

Fisher said she was pleased with the cooperation she got from city officials, whom she said made her business opening a smooth event. She said other business operators have also been supportive.

The store on the first floor of the city center is open

noon to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 8 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Sundays.
