Panthers roll over Dragons

The Dragons were guilty of 13 errors including eight in one inning as they lost 15-0 to the Chesapeake Panthers Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“I don’t ever remember us making that many errors in a game,” Fairland coach Roger Snyder said.

The Panthers not only took advantage of the errors but the banged out 15 hits to back the three-hit pitching of Kersten Harris who struck out seven and walked one.

Chesapeake took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

P.J. Rase singled, Brian Huff walked and Cody Methax had an RBI single. Harris singled to drive in Huff.

The Panthers added a run in the second inning when Clinton Baise singled, moved up on a sacrifice by Vernon Browning and scored on a hit by Rase.

The lead went to 6-0 in the third inning.

With two outs, Baise got a hit, Browning was safe on an error and both runners moved up on an error. Rase struck out but the throw to first base was wild allowing a run to score. Huff singled to drive in two more runs.

A walk, four hits, a hit batsman and eight errors produced nine runs in the sixth inning as Chesapeake blew the game wide-open.

Rase went 3-5, Cody Methax and Harris 3-4, Huff 2-4 and Baise 2-5.

Chesapeake is now 3-0 and 1-0. Fairland fell to 3-1 and 0-1, hosts Rock Hill Thursday.
