CHESAPEAKE — If the 2006 season were a race, the Rock Hill Redwomen have quite a kick down the stretch.

The Redwomen won their third straight meet Friday and the most important of them all as they easily won the Ohio Valley Conference meet.

“We started clicking at the end of the year. We don’t go for individual high point. We try to use our depth,” Rock Hill coach Mike Blagg said. “It was a great team effort. They did a great job again.”

Rock Hill had 136.5 points with Coal Grove second at 91.5 points. River Valley was third with 83 followed by South Point with 82, Chesapeake 73 and Fairland 54.

“I’m not surprise by how many we scored, but I was surprised the other teams had some points taken away. I thought our kids placed where they have all year,” Blagg said.

Rock Hill won five events, two by Anna Bridges as she took the high jump and long jump. Ashton Brammer claimed first place in the 400 meter dash.

The 4×800 relay of Brittany Ross, Kelsey Hardy, Sarah Hartwig, Amelia Zimmerman won with a time of 11:24.3. The 4×400 relay of

Brammer, Michelle Pancake, Brittany Ross and Harmoni Schug with a 4:33.6 clocking.

“We changed the 4×4 and we were still able to come out ahead,” Blagg said. “Brianna Hairston had a good meet. She was on the 4×100 and that was our best finish all year.”

River Valley’s Ashley Fitch took high point honors with 36 points. She won the 800, 1600 and 3200 and was third in the shot put.

Fairland’s Bethany Barbour won the shot put and discus. Coal Grove’s Nikki Brammer took the pole vault.

Megan Crabtree of South Point won the 100 meters while Chesapeake’s Laura Smith won 200 meters and Hannah Pack the 400 hurdles.
