Trojans use FTs to beat Pointers

PORTSMOUH — In order to score, the Portsmouth Trojans were either long or free.

The Trojans made six 3-pointers and sank 14 of their 17 free throws in the fourth quarter to beat the South Point Pointers 63-55 Friday night.

Brian Taylor led Portsmouth with 14 points including a pair of 3-pointers. Charlie Doll had 12 points, Antonio Johnson had 11 points and Shane Porter added 10 points.

J.T. Terry led the Pointers (6-8) with a game-high 24 points.

Portsmouth (4-11) led 17-13 after the first quarter and 28-24 at the half.

Taylor hit back-to-back trifectas in the third quarter as Portsmouth took a 10-point lead.

Porter had eight points in the fourth quarter as Portsmouth connected on 14 foul shots to end any South Point comeback hopes.
