A head-on collision early Saturday morning and a late-night burglary Saturday night kept Ironton Police busy.

An Ironton woman is listed in stable condition at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va., after an accident at the intersection of Third and Heplar streets just after midnight Saturday.

Ironton Police Detective Jim Akers said Kimberly Rowe, 20,

was apparently attempting to turn from Heplar Street onto Third Street when she struck a car driven by Doreen Dingus, 30, of Flatwoods, Ky., who was traveling north on Third Street,. Rowe was cited for failure to yield right-of-way.

Police were called to a mobile home in the Sta-tan trailer park just before 11:30 p.m. Saturday in response to a breaking and entering.

Neighbors noticed someone in a nearby residence and called police. Ironton police asked for assistance from both Coal Grove police and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office since the residents at that address were known to have guns.

Angela Huff, 31, of Worthington, Ky., was charged with burglary and possession of drugs and taken to jail.

“The people (who lived there) were on vacation,” Akers said. “Officers said when they got there they could hear her in the back walking around or going through stuff. She was caught coming out.”

When Huff was arrested, she was found to be in possession of marijuana, thus promoting the drug abuse charge, Akers said.
